Introduction

LLM in International Criminal Law - for both foreign and US graduates Taught by leading experts in the field, this program provides students who hold a degree in law with an in-depth knowledge of international criminal law and procedure, international humanitarian law and national security law. It will equip them to practice international criminal law before international tribunals or national courts. The one-year program is based at our law school, but students have the option of taking their second semester at an international tribunal. The degree is also available to American students on a part-time basis over two years. The one-year program requires full-time attendance and 24 hours of course credits. Required Courses: International Criminal Law & Procedure (3) Elective Courses: International Law (3) War Crimes Research Lab (3) National Security Law I: Foreign Affairs (3) War and Morality (3) Islamic Law (2) Cyberlaw (3) Health Care and Human Rights (2) Fundamentals of International Law Death Penalty Issues (2) Criminal Procedure (3) International Law and Organizations (3) National Security Law II: Counterterrorism (3) International Humanitarian Law (1) War Crimes Research Lab (3) International Human Rights Law (3) Conflicts of Law (3) European Union Law (3) Note: Course offerings may change from year to year and other international law electives may qualify for the LL.M. in International Criminal Law at the discretion of the Dean. Optional Externship Semester Twelve credits for an externship at the International Criminal Court (ICC), International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), or Mauritius Piracy Unit. Eligibility American candidates must have a J.D. degree. International students must have a foreign university-level degree in law and a TOEFL score of 90 or IELTS of 6.5. Candidates whose TOEFL or IELTS scores do not meet the criteria, but otherwise have excellent academic and professional credentials, may be granted conditional admission with additional English language study, at ELS Cleveland located on the CWRU campus and/or completion of our Summer Language and Law Institute.
